Lonsdale Pool Temporary Closure 4 August – 2 September 2025

We are excited to share some fantastic news regarding the ongoing improvements to Lonsdale Pool.

As part of our planned refurbishment, the pool will be temporarily closed from Monday 4th August, and will re-open on Tuesday 2 September 2025. This marks the beginning of Phase 2 of our refurbishment project, focusing on upgrades to the roof cladding. These essential improvements are being carried out to enhance energy efficiency, helping to manage rising energy costs and support a more sustainable facility.
We have chosen this time to begin the project to coincide with our regular two-week annual maintenance shutdown and the school holidays, ensuring minimal disruption to our swimmers.

During the closure, we are pleased to offer additional public swimming sessions at our sister site, Gayton Pool. Plus, keep an eye out, within the next week we’ll be launching our summer timetable, which includes a 5-day intensive swimming crash course (which will be at a discounted rate if booked before 26 July)

Looking ahead, Phase 3 of our refurbishment will include enhancements to exterior doors, windows and cladding on the exterior of the building, continuing our commitment to creating a better swimming environment for everyone. This however, will be subject to planning permission.
