Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust is a local charity and are currently looking for a suitable 1.5 acre local site to build a new swimming and leisure facility to replace the ageing Lonsdale Pool in Varsity Grange, Mickleover.
After several years of discussions with private and public sector landowners, we have several sites in the Mackworth, Mickleover and Littleover areas of the city that we are pursuing and are hopeful that at least one of these will come to fruition.

Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust recently secured Lottery funding to carry out a public consultation to ascertain the levels of public support for and demand for a new swimming pool and leisure facilities in the West Derby area.
Nearly 1,000 responded to the survey at the three events held in Mickleover, Littleover and Mackworth, online or at Lonsdale and Gayton pools.
People were asked for their views on outline plans for the new pool include an eight-lane 25m length pool, a 200-seat viewing area and potentially a second training pool. The Trust is also planning to include a gym, fitness studio, café and potentially crèche/nursery facilities.
The public were asked what facilities should be provided with percentage positive responses shown below.
Swimming lessons for babies and toddlers – 93%
Swimming lessons for children aged five to 11 – 97%
Swimming lessons for young people and adults – 94%
Competitive swimming training – 93%
Community swimming – 97%
Organised group classes – 90%
Gym facilities – 92%
Café facilities – 91%
Comments included the need for extensive viewing areas, disabled and friendly facilities, more car parking and bike storage.
