New Lonsdale Pool Progress Autumn 2011

The Trustees are progressing with plans to build a new Lonsdale pool to replace the existing one. Discussions are being held ith the City Council and with other local organisations and institutions. Pool Closure 24th March 2011

We apologise to our customers that the pool has had to be closed in the last few days, we have tried to let everyone affected know. We had a pump electrical failure caused by 3 recent electricity supply interruptions followed by a valve failure on the backup system which has prevented water circulation. Our maintenance contractors have rectified those problems but a separate problem possibly caused by the pressure surges as pumps start and stop during repairs and restarts has caused a flood of the plant room which affected electrical equipment. We are currently drying equipment out and hope to be operational later today, Saturday 26th March. If Sunday 25th Sessions are affected we will contact users.

Gayton Open Day

GAYTON POOL OPEN DAY

Come and join us for the opening day at the new Gayton Pool on 18th December from 09:30 to 16:00. The opening ceremony will be at 11:00 with the Mayor of Derby Amar Nath, Olympic swimmer Ross Davenport and former Olympic swimmer Mel Marshall . There will be demonstration events during the day and the opportunity to book in for courses and lessons.

SANTA will visit between 11:00 and 13:00.

GAYTON POOL OPENING DEFERRED

The opening of the new Gayton Pool has been deferred, an open day and official opening will be in December and the first day of operation is scheduled for 4th January 2011. Problems with the connection of the new electricity supply have delayed the completion and testing of the building and plant. We apologise for any problems this may cause our potential users.

Lonsdale to Operate New Gayton Pool

The Lonsdale Swimming & Sports Trust is delighted to have been awarded the contract for the operation of the newly built Gayton Swimming Pool in Littleover by Derby City Council. It will be operated by subsidiary Company Gayton Pool Limited. The pool will provide Children’s Swimming Lessons, School Swimming, Baby sessions, Ladies only and Men only sessions and water exercise. It is due to open in November 2010.
